We are frequently asked to stake property lines for fencing, landscaping, or real estate-related projects. We would like to make you aware that Washington State law (RCW 58.09.040) does not allow licensed land surveyors to mark or represent property boundaries without completing a full Record of Survey.
This process includes researching property records, reviewing legal descriptions, recovering and evaluating existing monuments, and establishing boundary lines in accordance with state regulations. The resulting survey is filed with the County and is a legally defensible document that helps protect the interests of both property owners and neighboring landowners.
In keeping with our professional and legal responsibilities, we do not provide staking for property lines, setbacks or fences without first completing and filing a Record of Survey. The ballpark cost for this service is typically $5,600 – $6,500, but it can be higher as it is based on each individual property.
